Low energy house
New build
EOA and Sir Peter Blake designed this low energy house on Passivhaus principles, inspired by the work of the Brotherhood of Ruralists (founded by Blake in the 1970s) on the ideal
house in the English landscape.
Blake was fascinated by the archaeology and
social history of the site and constructed a collage of objects found there, a glass facsimile of which by
Andrew Moor forms the street wall. A found Victorian blue-and-white china cup inspired the
design of the front door.
This beautiful house minimises energy use through super-insulation, airtightness and solar gain, and was assembled on site in three days.
